Latin American Film Week at UVic
3rd Annual Latin American Film Week
September 18th-23rd | Cinecenta, UVic
Attention Victoria film buffs! Today starts one of our favourite events of the year - the Annual Latin American and Spanish Film Week at Cinecenta, which is organised by some great people in the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies at the University of Victoria. This year will be extra special for us, as we have been invited to participate as the Film Week's sponsored charity - a great honour!
All the proceeds from the screenings of Operacion Diablo, on Friday, September 21st (7pm, 9pm), will go towards supporting Mosqoy's programs in the Peruvian Andes. Prior to the screening, we will also premiere our first ever (!) video presentation - featuring our founder Ashli Akins, and put together by our talented volunteer videographer, Jayce Hawkins. Our volunteers will also be answering questions and selling fair trade Peruvian textiles outside the theatre.
There are some fantastic films being shown this year from all over the Spanish-speaking world, so we hope to see loads of people out at Cinecenta this week. Special thanks to UVic Professor, Dr Dan Russek, for approaching us earlier this year and giving us this opportunity. Thank you, Dan!
