New Volunteer Opportunities

Much of Mosqoy’s momentum and continued success comes from our incredible group of talented, passionate volunteers who care about supporting communities in the Peruvian Andes and raising global awareness.

Volunteering with Mosqoy is an enriching experience: you have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other inspiring volunteers, and as past and present volunteers have reported, their experiences working with Mosqoy have been effective skill builders, and look great on a resume!

We’re currently accepting applications for volunteer positions in a variety of departments.

UVic Club president

A rare opportunity. Our current UVic Club President has just graduated from her studies and we thus need someone to be her successor! This would involve recruiting and coordinating UVic Club volunteers, coordinating fundraising events (including our weekly Felicita's Pub Quiz), and hosting regular meetings. (Time commitment would be approximately 5 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of one school-year.)

Trivia hosts

Our Trivia Night at Felicita’s has become a Tuesday mainstay for many, and we’re looking for some exuberant, fun loving Trivia hosts to keep the momentum going. This is a fun, low key way to gain experience performing for a boisterous crowd. 3hrs/week (learn more about Trivia Nights)

Marketing Assistant

We are looking for someone in Victoria that can support our Marketing Director.  Tasks can depend on your skills and interests but areas we need help with include managing our social media (Facebook, Twitter), editing our website, mainting our mailing list, creating promotional materials and attending outreach events. CV-enhancing training provided.  Email beatriz@mosqoy.org. 5hrs/week

Media Officer

We are looking for someone to work with our Media Advisor to help us increase our media presence: propose story leads in newspapers ad specialised publications, write occasional articles or press releases, and monitor any relevant stories. Training provided and a great way to learn more about this field. Email beatriz@mosqoy.org. 1hr/week

Ongoing volunteer positions in Victoria, BC

UVic Club event volunteers:

Our Mosqoy UVic Club is Mosqoy's branch at the University of Victoria (Canada) and it fundraises for our programs in Peru. Their main event is the successful weekly Trivia Quiz Night they host every Tuesday night at UVic's Felicita's Pub. The Club is a great way to meet other like-minded UVic students, learn new skills and explore your creative fundraising ideas.

Marketing & PR volunteers:

We need our voice heard! We need enthusiastic and knowledgeable people to spread the word to various audiences, both locally and online to different communities. We provide CV-enhancing training on a variety of areas: social media, WordPress, Photoshop, mailing lists, web maintenance.  If you like to interact with people, have a knack for design or are an experienced writer, get in touch!

Grant-writers:

We are currently seeking skilled grant-writers to search for and apply for large grants and funding opportunities, to shift us to the next step: long-term financial stability and organizational legacy!

Volunteer Translators:

We need passionate bilingual speakers to help us translate letters from Sponsors and Students into Spanish and English, contribute to our website, and help create promotional materials.

Textile Sales Assistants:

We sell our fair-trade textiles at festivals and booths in British Columbia, and hope to start retailing through local businesses as well. We need individuals to help staff our booths and/or liaise with retail stores. (This is a casual position, where you can invest as much or as little time as you want.)

Event volunteers:

We host several events per year, for both fundraising and awareness purposes. We can always use extra hands!
